Skydiving Plane Crash Investigations Reveal Pattern of Poor Maintenance and Weak Oversight

Investigations into fatal skydiving plane crashes are uncovering a disturbing trend of inadequate maintenance and lax federal oversight. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has found that many of these aircraft are not properly maintained. Unlike commercial airlines, these operations are subject to less stringent safety regulations. Following several deadly incidents, including a 2019 crash in Hawaii that killed 11 people, the NTSB is urging the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to implement stronger safety standards for the industry.
