Sikorsky And Robinson Partner To Develop Uncrewed Helicopter Systems

Robinson Helicopter and Sikorsky are collaborating on an initiative to develop uncrewed flight technology. The partnership will integrate Sikorsky’s advanced Matrix autonomy system into Robinson’s popular R44 piston helicopter. This effort aims to create an optionally piloted vehicle (OPV) kit, making the R44 capable of autonomous flight. The primary goal is to offer a lower-cost uncrewed aircraft for missions like cargo, utility, and infrastructure inspection. This collaboration combines Sikorsky's extensive experience in autonomy with Robinson's widely used, cost-effective airframe to expand the market for autonomous vertical lift.
