SFO Approves $300 Million for Automated Air Cargo Terminal Expansion
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has approved a $300 million investment for a new, automated air cargo terminal. This project represents the first phase of the airport's comprehensive Cargo Area Redevelopment and Modernisation Programme. The new 357,000 square-foot facility will be constructed on the site of former United Airlines MRO hangars. Developed in partnership with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), the terminal will feature advanced automation to increase cargo capacity and operational efficiency. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2024, aiming to strengthen SFO's position as a major global cargo gateway.
