SFA Aviation Program Aims to Close Gender Gap and Inspire Female Pilots
Stephen F. Austin State University's aviation program is actively addressing the gender imbalance in the cockpit. Highlighted during Women's History Month, the program aims to inspire more women to pursue careers as pilots. While women constitute only about 9% of pilots nationwide, SFA's program has achieved a 17% female enrollment. Instructors and students emphasize the creation of a supportive community to encourage women to succeed in the field. This initiative also serves as a crucial step in tackling the broader industry-wide pilot shortage.
