Scottish Government Extends Loganair's Shetland Lifeline Flights Contract for One Year

The Scottish government has extended its contract with Loganair to operate essential lifeline flights to and from the Shetland Islands for an additional year. This decision ensures the continuity of services connecting Shetland with Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, and Kirkwall. The extension provides stability for island residents while a new long-term procurement process is undertaken. The current agreement was set to expire, prompting the short-term renewal. A new, long-term contract for these Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes is expected to be finalized and in place by 2026.
