SCC and Blount Partnership Earn State Award for Aviation Technology Program
Smoky Mountain Community College (SCC) and the Blount Partnership have received the Statewide Outstanding Achievement Recognition (SOAR) Award from the Tennessee Board of Regents. The honor recognizes their successful collaboration on the college's new Aviation Technology program. Launched in Fall 2023, the program is designed to address the critical shortage of certified aviation mechanics in the region. Based at McGhee Tyson Airport, the two-year curriculum prepares students for FAA Airframe and Powerplant certifications, supporting key industry partners like Cirrus Aircraft.
