Sasol and White Desert Launch First SAF-Powered Commercial Flights to Antarctica
Energy company Sasol and luxury tour operator White Desert have announced a landmark partnership. They will operate the first intercontinental commercial flights from Cape Town, South Africa, to Antarctica using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This initiative represents a significant step towards decarbonizing air travel to the ecologically sensitive continent. Sasol will supply its certified SAF, which is produced using Fischer-Tropsch technology and blended with conventional jet fuel. The collaboration aims to minimize the environmental footprint of Antarctic tourism and aviation operations.
