Ryanair Warns of Summer Disruption and Higher Fares Due to Boeing Delivery Delays
Ryanair has announced it will be forced to cut its summer flight schedule due to ongoing delays in receiving new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The airline now expects to receive only 40 of the 57 planes it was due to have by the end of June. This shortfall will lead to minor schedule changes across its network, primarily affecting July and August flights. Consequently, Ryanair will carry 5 million fewer passengers than initially forecast for the year, and CEO Michael O'Leary warned that passengers will face higher airfares this summer as a result of the reduced capacity.
