Rolls-Royce to Lead EU Hybrid-Electric Aircraft Project, Joins Hydrogen Alliance
Rolls-Royce is spearheading a new European Union research project, HE-TTA, to develop hybrid-electric propulsion technology for future aircraft. As part of the Clean Sky 2 program, the initiative will investigate new engine designs compatible with sustainable fuels, including hydrogen. Concurrently, the company has joined the 'Hydrogen in Aviation' (HIA) alliance alongside partners like easyJet and Airbus. This UK-based group aims to accelerate the policy, infrastructure, and safety standards required for zero-carbon hydrogen flight. These dual initiatives signal Rolls-Royce's significant commitment to decarbonizing the aviation sector.
