Rhenus Warns UK Businesses to Prepare for New EU Low-Value Parcel Customs Changes
Logistics firm Rhenus is issuing a warning to UK businesses regarding upcoming changes to EU customs regulations for low-value parcels. The current VAT exemption for goods valued under €22 is being removed, making all imports into the EU subject to VAT. This regulatory shift will primarily impact UK e-commerce companies and SMEs that ship frequently to the European Union. Rhenus advises businesses to adapt by utilising new systems like the Import One-Stop-Shop (IOSS) to avoid customs delays, returned parcels, and dissatisfied customers. Failure to prepare for these new rules could lead to significant operational disruptions and additional costs.
