Qantas Secures Brisbane-Honiara Route After Regulator Rejects Solomon Airlines' Challenge
Solomon Airlines has lost its legal challenge to block Qantas from operating flights between Brisbane and Honiara. The carrier argued that the existing Air Service Agreement only permitted one designated airline per country on the route. Australia's International Air Services Commission (IASC) rejected this interpretation, affirming the agreement allows for multiple designations. Consequently, the IASC has officially approved Qantas's application for capacity on the route. This decision allows Qantas to launch three weekly services, taking over a key corridor previously serviced by Virgin Australia.
