Prestwick Airport Sets Record with Over One Million Kilograms of Salmon Exported in 2023
Glasgow Prestwick Airport has announced a record-breaking achievement in its cargo operations. In 2023, the airport successfully exported over one million kilograms of fresh Scottish salmon. This milestone was achieved in partnership with air charter specialist Chapman Freeborn and Qatar Airways Cargo. A dedicated weekly Boeing 777 freighter is used for the operation, transporting the high-value commodity. The salmon is flown to global markets, primarily in the Middle East and Far East, via the Doha hub. This success highlights Prestwick's growing role as a crucial air freight hub for Scottish exports.
