Pilot's Final Words Revealed in Fatal 2018 California General Aviation Crash

Details have emerged from the fatal March 2018 crash of a single-engine Mooney M20J in Upland, California. The incident killed the pilot, Jarret Choi, and a 12-year-old girl, Penny Stout, who was inside the home the aircraft struck. An audio recording reveals the pilot's last words to air traffic control were, "we're going down hard." A National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigation concluded that the crash was caused by a loss of engine power shortly after takeoff. The family of the girl has since filed a lawsuit in connection with the tragic accident.
