Pilot Killed in Small Plane Crash Near Chandler Municipal Airport

A pilot has died following the crash of a single-engine aircraft near Chandler Municipal Airport in Arizona. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning around 7:30 a.m., shortly after the plane took off. The aircraft, identified as a home-built Express S-90, went down in a retention basin just south of the runway. The pilot, 62-year-old Richard McWilliams, was the sole occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will lead the investigation into the cause of the fatal crash.
