Pilot Killed in Saratoga County Cirrus SR22 Crash
A pilot from Caroga Lake was killed in the crash of his single-engine aircraft in Saratoga County. The victim was identified as Joseph D. Chaves, 59, the sole occupant of a 2005 Cirrus SR22. He had taken off from a private airstrip and was on approach to Saratoga County Airport when the incident occurred. The plane went down in a wooded area in the town of Milton, just short of the runway. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have launched an investigation into the cause of the fatal crash.
