Pilot Killed in Experimental Aircraft Crash Near Bethany, Missouri
A pilot was killed in a plane crash in Harrison County, Missouri, on Monday morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as 74-year-old Richard L. Smith of Des Moines, Iowa. The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. in a field north of Bethany. Smith was the sole occupant of the experimental, amateur-built, single-engine aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified and is investigating the cause of the fatal crash.
