Pentagon Finalizes $30 Billion Deal for Nearly 400 F-35 Fighter Jets
The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin have officially finalized a contract for the production and delivery of up to 398 F-35 Lightning II fighter jets. Valued at a maximum of $30 billion, the agreement covers production lots 15 through 17. The new aircraft will be supplied to the U.S. Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy. Additionally, the deal includes aircraft for international partners, with Belgium, Finland, and Poland set to receive their first F-35s. This major procurement moves forward despite ongoing debates surrounding future engine upgrades for the stealth fighter fleet.
