Off-Duty Officer Recounts Emergency Plane Landing on Philadelphia Highway

An off-duty Philadelphia police officer is recovering after the small plane he was in made an emergency landing on Roosevelt Boulevard. The single-engine aircraft, piloted by his father-in-law, reportedly experienced engine failure shortly after taking off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The officer, his son, and the pilot were the only three people on board. Speaking from his hospital bed, the officer praised the pilot's skill in successfully landing the plane and avoiding traffic. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of the incident.
