NTSB: United Pilot Warned of 'Low and Slow' Approach Before Wing Struck Light Pole at Newark
The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report on a United Airlines incident at Newark Liberty International Airport. On March 21st, the First Officer of a Boeing 757 warned the Captain of a 'low and slow' approach. Shortly after the warning, the aircraft's left wing struck a runway approach light stanchion. The flight landed safely without any injuries to the 166 passengers and crew members onboard. However, the aircraft sustained substantial damage to its left wing slat.
