NTSB Report Cites Catastrophic Engine Failure in Tim Sheehy's P-63 Aircraft Crash
The National Transportation Safety Board has released its final report on the October 1, 2023, crash of a Bell P-63E Kingcobra piloted by U.S. Senate candidate Tim Sheehy. According to the investigation, the vintage aircraft experienced a "catastrophic internal engine failure" shortly after departing Ennis-Big Sky Airport in Montana. Sheehy attempted to return to the airport for an emergency landing. However, the aircraft stalled during the turn and crashed short of the runway. Both Sheehy and a passenger sustained minor injuries, while the historic plane was substantially damaged.
