The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report on a fatal plane crash that occurred near Shannon Airport in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The August 12 accident involved a single-engine Diamond DA-40, resulting in the deaths of a flight instructor and a student pilot. Investigators discovered a crucial flight control component, the right aileron control rod, separated from its bellcrank. The ailerons are essential for controlling the aircraft's roll.
