NTSB Preliminary Report Details Student Pilot's Maneuvers Before Fatal Lancaster County Crash

The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report on the fatal plane crash in Lancaster County, South Carolina, that killed a student pilot and a flight instructor on May 26. The report details the student's activities earlier that day, which included practicing flight maneuvers like power-on and power-off stalls with a different instructor in the same Beech C23 Sundowner aircraft. A witness reported seeing the plane in a "steep right bank turn" at a low altitude shortly before the crash. The aircraft was later found in a heavily wooded area. The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is ongoing.
