NTSB: Pilot's Failure to Feather Propeller Caused Fatal Miami Cargo Crash
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its findings on the fatal Conquest Air Cargo crash near Miami. Investigators determined the probable cause was the flight crew's failure to properly handle an engine failure after takeoff. The pilots did not feather the propeller of the failed engine, which created overwhelming drag and a loss of control. The Convair C-131B aircraft crashed moments later, killing both pilots. As a result, the NTSB has issued new safety recommendations to the FAA regarding pilot training.
