NTSB: Pilot in Fatal Connecticut Crash Was on Post-Maintenance Test Flight
The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report on a fatal plane crash in North Stonington, Connecticut. The pilot was conducting the first flight in a homebuilt Zenith CH 750 STOL after installing a new engine. A witness reported seeing the aircraft in a "flat spin" before it impacted the terrain. The report notes that the engine was found separated from the main wreckage. The NTSB's investigation into the cause of the December 21st accident is ongoing.
