NTSB Hearing Reveals UPS Crew Switched Aircraft Before Fatal 2013 Crash
During an NTSB hearing, it was revealed that the crew of the fatal UPS Flight 1354 switched planes shortly before their departure from Louisville. The flight, which crashed in Birmingham, Alabama in 2013, was originally scheduled on a Boeing 767, but the crew was moved to an Airbus A300. Investigators are examining whether this last-minute change contributed to pilot fatigue, as the crew had less time to prepare for the flight with the different aircraft. The board is also scrutinizing the maintenance history of the A300 involved in the accident. The hearing aims to understand the circumstances leading to the crash that killed both pilots.
