NTSB Final Report: Improper Engine Overhaul Caused Fatal Naples I-75 Jet Crash
The National Transportation Safety Board has concluded its investigation into the fatal Bombardier Challenger 604 crash on Interstate 75 in Naples. The final report determined that a total loss of thrust in both engines was caused by fuel starvation. Investigators traced the failure to an improperly performed overhaul of the engines' fuel system components by a maintenance contractor. The report details the pilots' attempts to execute an emergency landing on the highway after the dual-engine failure. While the two pilots perished in the crash, three passengers survived the incident.
