NORAD Scrambles Jets, Deploys Flares to Intercept Aircraft Near Mar-a-Lago
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) scrambled fighter jets in response to a civilian aircraft violating a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) near former President Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. The military pilots deployed signal flares to get the attention of the private plane's pilot, who was not in communication with air traffic control. The single-engine aircraft was then intercepted and escorted to a local airport without incident. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified and will investigate the airspace incursion. This type of interception is a standard procedure for enforcing restricted airspace.
