New West Virginia Workshop Inspires Next Generation of Aviation Technicians
Middle school students from Fairmont Catholic School were the first to experience a new Aviation Maintenance Technology workshop. This hands-on program is a collaboration between Pierpont Community & Technical College and the North Central West Virginia Airport. The initiative aims to address the nationwide shortage of aviation maintenance technicians by sparking interest at an early age. Students participated in activities like riveting, safety wiring, and using a flight simulator to learn about the industry. Organizers hope to expand this successful pilot program to other schools in the region to build a local talent pipeline.
