NBAA Voices Strong Support for ALERT Act Ahead of House Committee Review
The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has reiterated its strong support for the bipartisan Advanced Land-based Emergency Response Technology (ALERT) Act. This legislation is scheduled for review by the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. The act aims to modernize aircraft safety by promoting the use of crash-activated emergency locator transmitters (ELTs) that provide precise GPS coordinates. This technology significantly enhances the effectiveness of search-and-rescue operations compared to older, less accurate systems. NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen emphasized that this update is a critical step forward for the safety of the entire general aviation community.
