NBAA Applauds DOT Progress on Modernizing Air Traffic Control
The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has publicly commended the Department of Transportation (DOT) for its significant progress in establishing a new, independent entity to manage the U.S. air traffic control (ATC) system. This proposed not-for-profit organization would be governed by a board of aviation stakeholders, separating it from the FAA's safety oversight role. NBAA President Ed Bolen emphasized that this model would ensure stable, predictable funding for critical modernization efforts, free from political uncertainties. The reform aims to create a more efficient and technologically advanced ATC system, similar to models successfully implemented in other countries. NBAA supports the initiative, stating it will benefit all users of the national airspace.
