NATO's Future All-Domain Surveillance Program Enters Concept Development Phase
NATO is advancing its Alliance Future Surveillance and Control (AFSC) program, which aims to replace the alliance's aging E-3A AWACS fleet. The NATO Support and Procurement Agency has awarded contracts to three industry consortia to develop high-level technical concepts. These teams, led by Boeing (ASPAARO), Airbus (ABILITI), and General Atomics (JISR), will now begin a two-year concept phase. The goal is to create a multi-domain 'system-of-systems' that integrates space, air, ground, and maritime assets. This move marks a crucial step toward defining NATO’s next-generation surveillance and control capabilities for the post-2035 era.
