NATO's All-Domain Surveillance Program Advances to New Concept Phase
NATO's initiative to replace its aging E-3A AWACS fleet, the Alliance Future Surveillance and Control (AFSC) program, is officially moving into its next phase. This new concept stage will define the architecture for a future 'system-of-systems' approach to surveillance. Six major transatlantic industry consortia, featuring companies like Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and General Atomics, have submitted their technical concepts. The NATO Support and Procurement Agency is now evaluating these proposals. Multiple contracts are expected to be awarded in mid-2024 to refine the most promising concepts, marking a significant step in shaping the alliance's future intelligence and control capabilities.
