Mitsubishi and Shield AI Partner to Develop AI Pilot for Future Combat Aircraft
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has announced a partnership with U.S. artificial intelligence firm Shield AI. The collaboration aims to rapidly demonstrate autonomous mission capabilities for future combat aircraft. Shield AI will provide its Hivemind AI pilot technology, which enables aircraft to maneuver and execute tactics autonomously. This effort will support Japan's next-generation fighter program and could also be used to upgrade existing platforms like the Mitsubishi F-2. The partnership marks a significant step in integrating advanced AI into Japan's air defense strategy.
