Michelin Unveils Lighter, Longer-Lasting Next-Generation Aviation Tire
Michelin has introduced its next-generation aircraft tire, the Michelin Air X Radial featuring NZG (Near Zero Growth) technology. This new tire is 10-15% lighter than its predecessors, a significant reduction that can lead to substantial fuel savings for airlines. The company also claims the tire offers a 20-30% increase in the number of landings per tread, improving durability and reducing maintenance downtime. This innovation results from over a decade of research and development at Michelin's facility in Ladoux, France. The tire is currently being certified for the Boeing 737 MAX and will be adapted for the Airbus A320neo family.
