Merlin Labs Passes Key Software Review for C-130J Autonomous Flight System
Merlin Labs has successfully completed the first major software review for its autonomous flight control system, designed for the U.S. Air Force's C-130J Super Hercules. This milestone, known as the System Requirements Review (SRR), was conducted with the Air Force Research Laboratory and is a critical step in the technology's development. The Merlin Pilot system aims to enable reduced-crew operations, enhancing mission flexibility and addressing pilot shortages. The project is funded under a Strategic Funding Increase (STRATFI) contract awarded in 2023. Following this review, the company will advance to the Preliminary Design Review and further flight testing.
