Menzies Aviation Supports Sustainable TaxiBot Electric Towing Trials at Schiphol
Menzies Aviation is providing ground handling support for the TaxiBot electric towing vehicle at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The initiative is part of a trial by Royal Schiphol Group to promote sustainable taxiing of aircraft. The semi-robotic, hybrid-electric TaxiBot tows aircraft from the gate to the runway, allowing planes to keep their main engines off until just before take-off. This process significantly reduces CO2 emissions, fuel consumption, and noise pollution on the ground. Menzies' role involves connecting and disconnecting the TaxiBot, supporting the industry's wider push towards decarbonization.
