Man Wrongly Arrested Over 2018 Gatwick Drone Disruption Wins High Court Case
A man who was wrongly arrested for the 2018 drone disruption at Gatwick Airport has won a High Court case against Sussex Police. Paul Mott was awarded £200,000 in damages for wrongful arrest, false imprisonment, and trespass. The court ruled that police did not have reasonable grounds to suspect him of being involved. Mr. Mott and his partner were held for 36 hours during the investigation into the incident. The drone disruption caused chaos for three days, leading to the cancellation of approximately 1,000 flights and affecting 140,000 passengers.
