Man Wrongfully Arrested in 2018 Gatwick Drone Incident Wins High Court Case for Malicious Prosecution
A man who was wrongfully arrested for the drone disruption at Gatwick Airport in December 2018 has won a High Court case against Sussex Police. Paul Mott, who was held for 36 hours before being released without charge, sued the police for malicious prosecution. The judge ruled in his favour, stating there was a lack of reasonable grounds for the police to believe he was guilty. The court found that the decision to continue the investigation and apply for a warrant to search his home was unjustified. A future hearing will now determine the amount of damages Mr. Mott will receive.
