Loganair Warns Shetland's Lifeline Air Services Are Under Threat
Loganair has stated that essential air services connecting Shetland's outer isles are under serious threat due to a contract dispute. The airline, which has operated the routes for over 50 years, described the future of flights from Tingwall Airport as 'extremely vulnerable'. The uncertainty stems from a public procurement process initiated by the Shetland Islands Council for the service contract, which is due to end in March 2026. Loganair argues the current tender process is unworkable and is urging the council to find an alternative way to award the contract to ensure the continuity of these vital transport links.
