Loganair Secures New Seven-Year Contract for Shetland Lifeline Flights
Loganair has successfully won a new seven-year contract to continue operating the essential 'lifeline' air services for the Shetland Islands. The £48 million agreement, awarded by Shetland Islands Council, will begin on April 1, 2025. This ensures the continuation of vital routes connecting Sumburgh with Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Kirkwall. The new contract also maintains fare caps for island residents, including a compassionate travel fare capped at £80. This decision provides long-term stability for the crucial air links between Shetland and the Scottish mainland.
