Lawmakers Urge DOT to Create a National No-Fly List for Abusive Passengers
The Democratic Women's Caucus has sent a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, urging the Department of Transportation to create a national no-fly list for abusive passengers. The caucus highlights that incidents of unruly passengers have increased nearly 100-fold since 2019, posing a significant threat to flight crews and the public. They argue that individual airline bans are insufficient as banned passengers can simply book flights on other carriers. A centralized list, they contend, is necessary to protect aviation workers, who are predominantly women, and ensure safety across the industry.
