LATAM Boeing 787 Grounded on Easter Island After Airstair Collision
A LATAM Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has been grounded on the remote Easter Island following a ground handling incident. The aircraft, operating a flight from Santiago, was struck by a mobile airstair after arriving at Mataveri International Airport. The collision caused significant damage to one of the main passenger doors, rendering the aircraft inoperable. As a result, the return flight was canceled, leaving passengers stranded. LATAM dispatched a replacement aircraft to repatriate the travelers and transport a maintenance team to assess the grounded jet.
