Las Vegas Pilot Mentors Next Generation to Address Gender Gap in Aviation
Melissa Cracraft, a commercial pilot for a major U.S. airline based in Las Vegas, is actively working to close the gender gap in the aviation industry. She founded a mentorship program called "The Cockpit" to guide and support aspiring female pilots. The initiative was born from Cracraft's own experiences of having few female role models during her training. The program aims to create a strong community and provide resources for young women, addressing the statistic that only about 5-7% of commercial pilots are female. Through her work, Cracraft hopes to inspire more women to pursue careers in the flight deck.
