Lafayette Hosts BETA Technologies' ALIA Electric Aircraft Demonstration
BETA Technologies demonstrated its all-electric ALIA aircraft at Lafayette Regional Airport in a significant step for advanced air mobility. The event was part of the U.S. Air Force's AFWERX Agility Prime program, which aims to accelerate the development of electric aviation. The zero-emission aircraft, designed for both cargo and passengers, is notably quieter than traditional helicopters. This demonstration highlights a partnership with helicopter operator Bristow, which plans to use the technology for offshore logistics in the Gulf of Mexico. The event positions Lafayette as a potential hub for the emerging electric aviation industry.
