KLM Cityhopper Embraer Returns to Amsterdam After In-Flight Engine Shutdown
A KLM Cityhopper flight from Amsterdam to Bologna was forced to make an emergency return on November 3, 2023. The aircraft, an Embraer ERJ-190, was climbing over Germany when the crew had to shut down the number one engine. The pilots declared an emergency and initiated a diversion back to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The flight landed safely on runway 18R approximately 55 minutes after its initial departure. Emergency services were on standby to meet the aircraft upon its arrival.
