Kazakhstan's Aviation Chief Outlines Ambitious Growth, Safety Goals, and Workforce Development
Catalin Radu, the head of Kazakhstan's Aviation Administration (AAK), highlighted the country's impressive air traffic growth, which saw a 20% increase in passengers in 2023, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. The nation is actively expanding its international reach, with plans for new routes to destinations like Mumbai, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. Radu emphasized a strong commitment to safety, noting Kazakhstan's compliance with ICAO standards is well above the global average. A key objective is to achieve a U.S. FAA Category 1 rating, which would enable direct flights to the United States. Furthermore, the AAK is focused on building a future talent pipeline by modernizing training programs for pilots and engineers.
