Joby CEO: Manufacturing Scale, Not Technology, Is The Biggest Risk to eVTOL Success
Joby Aviation's CEO, JoeBen Bevirt, has stated that the company's primary challenge is not the technology of its electric air taxi, but the ability to manufacture it at scale. While confident in the aircraft's performance and certification progress, Bevirt identifies the transition to mass production as the most significant hurdle. The company is currently building a facility in Ohio designed to produce up to 500 aircraft per year. This focus on manufacturing automation is crucial as Joby prepares for its planned commercial launch in 2025 and aims to avoid the "production hell" experienced by other transportation innovators.
