Joby Aviation Conducts First Electric Air Taxi Flight Over New York City
Joby Aviation has successfully completed the first-ever electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft flight in New York City. The historic demonstration took place at the Downtown Manhattan Heliport, marking a significant milestone for the future of urban air mobility. This flight is part of a key partnership with Delta Air Lines and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The company showcased the potential to reduce the travel time from Manhattan to JFK International Airport from over an hour by car to just seven minutes by air. Joby is working towards launching commercial passenger services as early as 2025, pending regulatory certification.
