Jetran Unveils 'Material-to-Application' Design Philosophy for Lighter, More Durable Air Cargo Containers
UK-based ULD designer Jetran is pioneering a 'Material-to-Application' (M2A) design philosophy for air cargo containers. This innovative approach utilizes advanced composite materials, like monolithic thermoplastics, to create units that are significantly lighter and more durable than traditional aluminium models. The primary goal is to enhance repairability and reduce the overall weight of the containers. By achieving substantial weight savings, this technology promises to lower airline fuel consumption and decrease CO2 emissions. The concept is being brought to life through a collaboration with industrial design specialists Kore DPA.
