Japan Airlines CEO: Aviation Alliances Expanding Role to Sustainability and IT
Japan Airlines CEO Yuji Akasaka, who also chairs the Oneworld alliance, has stated that global aviation alliances are evolving beyond their traditional roles. The focus is shifting from simple code-sharing and mileage programs to deeper collaborations. Alliances are now jointly purchasing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to help members meet environmental goals and reduce costs. Additionally, they are working together on shared IT infrastructure and ground handling services to improve efficiency.
